For those in need of healing and for those in our community who are healers.
Before our health care system, the Church was the place for health and healing. If you are in need of mental or physical healing, or if God works through you to heal others, here are some prayers and passages from Scripture.
Prayer: Almighty God, to whom our needs are known before we ask: Help us to ask only what accords with your will; and those good things which we dare not, or in our blindness cannot ask, grant us for the sake of your Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
Large crowds followed Jesus as he came down the mountainside. Suddenly, a man with leprosy approached him and knelt before him. “Lord,” the man said, “if you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean.” Jesus reached out and touched him. “I am willing,” he said. “Be healed!” And instantly the leprosy disappeared. Matthew 8:1-3
Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart. I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours. But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too.” Mark 11:23-25
God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him. Philippians 2:13
Are any among you sick? They should call for the elders of the church and have them pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord. The prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise them up; and anyone who has committed sins will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective. James 5:14-16
Most merciful God, I confess that I have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what I have done, and by what I have left undone.
I have not loved you with my whole heart; I have not loved my neighbors as myself.
I am truly sorry and I humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on me and forgive me; that I may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.
Savoir of the world, by your cross and precious blood you have redeemed me; save me, and help me, I humbly beseech you, O Lord. (Repeat three times)
for those who need healing: The Almighty Lord, who is a strong tower to all who put their trust in him, to whom all things in heaven, on earth, and under the earth bow and obey: Be now and evermore your defense, and make you know and feel that the only Name under heaven given for health and salvation is the Name of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Amen.
for Recovery from Sickness O God, the strength of the weak and the comfort of sufferers:Mercifully accept our prayers, and grant to your servant the help of your power, that sickness may be turned into health, and sorrow into joy; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
for Health of Body and Soul May God the Father bless you, God the Son heal you, God the Holy Spirit give you strength. May God the holy and undivided Trinity guard your body, save your soul, and bring you safely to his heavenly country; where he lives and reigns for ever and ever. Amen.
for Doctors and Nurses Sanctify, O Lord, those whom you have called to the study and practice of the arts of healing, and to the prevention of disease and pain. Strengthen them by your life‑giving Spirit, that by their ministries the health of the community may be promoted and your creation glorified; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
