We started Morning Prayer at church and I wanted to join in. The first two weeks I came each day. The cat stared at me when I did not do our morning routine. I liked being with others for Morning Prayer, and I was a little frustrated with not having my own quiet time at home. I have settled on coming to Grace on Monday and Tuesday mornings and following my own quiet time routine at home the rest of the week.
Part of my frustration in the beginning was that I would come for Morning Prayer and then go home. And then I found it really hard to go back out for exercise class. Now I come to Grace and stay after Morning Prayer and putter around and then go to the library and then go to exercise. This is delightful. I am enjoying this new schedule.
I encourage you to start your day with Morning Prayer either with us or at home. The Holy Spirit welcomes you anywhere. Morning Prayer is the best antidote to the feelings of being overwhelmed or busy or stressed. The ritual is good for bringing me into the presence of God. And I still pray mostly at home because I need time to rummage around in my heart and bring things forth.
