The dance began in the beginning, in silence and stillness, as the world lay worshiping under the hand of God, for “the Spirit of God was moving over the face of the waters.” The dance began with God.
Carla De Sola, The Spirit Moves: A Handbook of Dance and Prayer
Dance and worship have been linked from the beginning of time. King David "danced before the Lord with all his might" (2 Samuel 6:14). The Psalms call us to "praise His name with dance, making melody to Him with timbrel and lyre!" (Psalms 149:3). Movement has always been a part of our tradition in the Episcopal Church and in many other worship traditions. It allows us to be more engaged in our worship and prayers. We hope that all of our worship will be enriched through the offering of Liturgical Dance.
Kelly Carr, Liz Miller, and Nancy Burnett will offer liturgical dance at the 10 am service Offertory on Sunday, April 12.
