Several weeks ago I was getting my hair cut (I know some of you wonder it I do every get a haircut and, yes, occasionally I do). As I was sitting in the chair, the barber asked, “What is that green bracelet about?” Since my first day at Grace I have worn one of the green Grace “Got Grace?” plastic bracelets. Since then, I have been asked many times, “What’s that bracelet about?”
I get the chance to talk about our church, specifically Grace, and also about the Episcopal Church in general. I get to talk about the Love of God and that, no matter what, we have God’s grace. We do not have to “earn” it or do anything special to get it; it simply IS God’s Grace.
It’s simple, yes and sometimes I sometimes forget that I have it on. Blessedly, it’s washable!
If the definition of evangelism is sharing what is meaningful in our lives with others then I think that sometimes simplicity speaks volumes.
On Sunday morning we will have the bracelets available. And if in your daily life you can wear one please do so and evangelize. Our shared commitment to Grace is strong and the bracelets can also act as a show of that strength when the new Priest arrives.
“Got Grace?” “YES!”
