Grace is a place bountiful with care and love and plenty to eat. A place full of God’s grace and blessings and we are called to share all of that with our neighbors.
And there are people, our neighbors, who look at empty cupboards. We are called to help these neighbors as best as we can.
On the radio the other day, morning business news reported that spending on many things is way down because of the cost of not only oil and gas but electricity as well. We are all affected but I know that we are more fortunate than many.
We need to be sure that the basket is as full as it can be as it is carried down the aisle and that it is filled with non-perishable foodstuffs as part of our Sunday offering. If two people have to carry it, that would be even better.
On Sunday morning, or on any day that you might be at the church, think to bring some item for the basket. Canned goods, non-perishables, items from a hotel stay are all appropriate.
This way those who have to choose between rent or medicine and food – will have some help and something in their cupboards to eat.
