This morning you will hear about a real need. As I noted last week, thinking about the electronics collection day, obsolescence happens; it is a reality.
In our office we have three computers; all three are obsolete. One will go into the e-waste collection day pile. Our primary computer, one that contains all of our parish financial information, and all other parish records, is over eight years old and can no longer receive updates from Microsoft. Because it cannot accept new and necessary information our bookkeeper cannot do her job in the most efficient way possible. The reason for this is that our “eight year old” cannot be updated with crucial information. The cost for this update and replacement will be about $1,200.00.
Some have joked that the Episcopal Church is trying to move technologically into the 19th Century! However, now, today, in the 21st Century we cannot live in that century past.
The good news: a family in the parish, who wishes to remain anonymous, has offered a matching grant of $500.00 provided we can raise the other $ 700.00!
Contributions of any amount are not only welcome, but needed so that our support staff can do their jobs appropriately and well. If you can write a check please note “Computer Campaign” in the memo line at the bottom. This way the funds will go
only to this important project.
So much is done behind the scenes, here at Grace, to make sure that all that we do can happen. A mentor of mine said, “Remember‘administration’ has ministry in the middle of it.” This ministry needs all of our support.
Thanks and blessings,
Hugh+
