The bi-monthly Zoom meeting of the Diocesan Service & Justice Coalition will be held on Saturday, September 12 at 9:30 am. Join service & justice leaders from our many parishes and be inspired by everything we are doing to help others in our Diocese and beyond.

On Sunday, September 13, 4:00 p.m. at St. Bartholomew, Poway. Their 2026-27 St. Bart's Music Series begins with "Deep Resonance", a concert featuring a diverse program of sacred and secular music for TTBB choir, showcasing the richness and versatility of the men’s choral tradition, led by Associate Director of Music Tim McLellan. 

Step into a peaceful evening of prayer, music, and reflection at a meditative Taizé service hosted by All Saints’ Church in Hillcrest (625 Pennsylvania Ave, San Diego) on Sunday, September 13, at 5:30 p.m. Rooted in simple chants, silence, and candlelit contemplation, this gathering offers space to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with God in community. All are welcome to this gentle and prayerful experience.

Dr. David Moseley's next course, Christian Scriptures 1, will be a 12-week online class focused on Jesus and the Four Gospels, starting on Monday, September 14.  For many of you, this class will be the most intriguing of all our BfS courses as we explore the historical, religious, cultural, social, political and economic background and context of the four contrasting portraits of Jesus of Nazareth found in the four remarkable Christian Gospels. Join the Women of Grace on Tuesday, September 15, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. for a lesson in the fun and relaxing technique of Praying in Color! Bring a snack to share. All materials will be provided!

Visit the Children of Vida Joven, September 19

Spend a joyful day with the children at Buena Vida, one of the Vida Joven Foundation family of orphanages. Transportation across the border is provided. 

Trip Details

1. Once you register for a trip, you’ll get an email confirmation. Registration for a trip is required in advance. Go here to register. 
2. The week before the trip, you’ll get another email with details about transportation and a reminder to bring your passport or Global Entry/Sentri card.
3. A valid passport or Sentri/Global Entry card is required.
4. Spanish is NOT required!
5. The day of your trip, please arrive by 8:30 a.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church (760 1st Ave, Chula Vista CA 91910) parking lot in Chula Vista. We’ll do some introductions and a brief orientation before heading to Mexico. 
6. Depending on traffic, we’ll arrive at the orphanage around 10:00 am. 
7. We’ll depart from the orphanage around 1:00 p.m.
8. The border wait time to re-enter the U.S. is always unpredictable. Thanks in advance for your patience and flexibility.
9. You may bring a snack. Regarding meats, fruits, and vegetables: bring only what you will eat. We cannot take these items back into the U.S.

Join EDSD for an in-person Safe Church, Safe Communities training on Thursday, September 24, from 1:00–4:00 p.m. at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in City Heights. This training helps clergy, staff, volunteers, and ministry leaders build safer, healthier communities by strengthening awareness, appropriate boundaries, and practices that protect everyone in our churches. Participants will have the opportunity to complete required training in a supportive, in-person setting while learning alongside others from across the diocese.

St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church (16275 Pomerado Rd., Poway) will be hosting its 4th annual Rummage Sale on Friday and Saturday, September 25 and 26, 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. You will find thousands of items in excellent condition, including housewares, collectibles, clothing, toys, games, jewelry, sporting goods, children’s books, electronics, electrical appliances, plants, and a bake sale. All sales support our Outreach partners locally and internationally.

You’re invited to a Vida Joven donor appreciation party, “Convivir!” Your support is why orphaned children in Mexico have a home, an education, and a future full of possibilities. Please join us on Saturday, September 26, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.at Christ Church, Coronado, for stories, orphanage “tours,” and a celebration of what you make possible. $25 per person. Limited to 70 guests.

Stand with migrants and refugees—and with neighbors of many faiths—at an interfaith procession through San Diego on Sunday, September 27. Join in this observance of the World Day of Migrants and Refugees in honoring the dignity of migrants and refugees by lifting up a shared commitment to welcome, compassion, and justice. The procession will gather at 2:00 p.m. at 6th Avenue and Laurel Street in Balboa Park. All are welcome to participate and stand alongside our neighbors from across San Diego’s diverse faith communities.
